Minn Kota i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link Trolling Motors

Spot Lock is a “GPS anchor” that maintains your boat position even in wind, waves and current. I use this function primarily to fish and pick apart specific areas and structure. It’s also very useful when you need to retie or do anything that takes you away from actively fishing. This way you don’t drift over the spots you want to fish.

AutoPilot allows you to set and maintain the direction of your boat. The motor will constantly adjust to account for wind, waves or current that might otherwise put you off-course. Without AutoPilot, it’s extremely difficult to stay on a straight path.

Cruise Control allows you to set the speed of your drift, troll or route. This is especially usefull when trolling to have a consistent speed, regardless of the wind or wave conditions. With just your kicker motor, you’re setting your throttle, whereas cruise control will constantly adjust throttle to maintain the speed you set. I personally use cruise control on those flat calm days, when it’s tough to get a bite. Creating an artificial “drift” by setting a speed of 0.6mph-0.8mph can be the right trick to trigger bass.
